Björn Järnsida, Latin bier cotae ferrae, Björn Járnsíða, was a Viking who made Viking raids in France and the Mediterranean in the 8th century, and is considered one of Sweden's fairytale kings. Björn is said to have perished after 862, when his ship sank off the Frisian Islands, after a successful Viking expedition to the Mediterranean with Håstein.
